Spiderman Fantasies Fulfilled

Saturday, August 11, 2007

Will has been practically begging all summer long to go climbing. Lack of equipment and time conflicts with school have prevented me from taking him in the mornings during the week.

Finally his birthday came around and presented the perfect opportunity. We took a little time off work and went down to The Quarry in Provo. They had all the equipment needed for little climbers. Some quick paperwork, a short tutorial, and we were on the wall.

I am impressed. The boy was good. I think if he can become more comfortable when he’s off the ground and learn to trust the rope he could become quite a climber. As it was, once he got about 6 or 8 feet of the ground he started to get pretty nervous. Although, on one climb Ellen was climbing the route right next to him. The fact that she was there so close made him much more comfortable. On that climb he got about 20 feet or so off the floor before he was done. Well done boy!
